BI Systems Analyst

ProHire is currently seeking an experienced BI Systems Analyst with a strong working experience with Informatica software.  Our client is a 30+ year old Medical Device company located in San Diego. In this Senior Business Intelligence Analyst role, you will learn the company’s business model and the strategic direction of the company in order to be able to work with business management. This position will be responsible for: requirements gathering, design, development, testing and documentation for various BI/DW development and support activities.

 

 

Leads projects independently end to end
Coordinate with offshore team regarding strategies and developing roadmaps for BI projects end to end
Provide support to end users of BI Applications from system analysis to BI/ETL development and support
Interact with users to gather requirements from various departments and document business requirements; and to prepare functional specifications and mockup designs as necessary
Design and develop various Enterprise Business Intelligence Solutions including interfacing and integration with ERP systems of records, ETL design, Data modeling and database design, reporting and analytics solutions
Design data warehouse development and enhancement projects including data modeling, end to end solutions
Troubleshoot data warehouse and BI issues using SQL development and querying tools (e.g. Toad), provide production support and help resolve nightly ETL data & Cube refresh issues
Interact with local/remote development teams and other regional BI teams for production support
Troubleshoot, debug and diagnose BI/ETL issues
Develop and/or enhance ETL solutions - expert knowledge of Informatica and Oracle PL/SQL programming required
Provide performance tuning and enhancement of ETL processes, including supporting technical documentation
Keep abreast of latest BI/ETL technologies and plan effective integration within company systems

 

 

Must be fully versed in working with Informatica
Must have an understanding of ERP business processes, data warehouse and BI concepts and ability to apply educational and practical experience to improvise business intelligence application
Must be able to provide simplified and standardized solutions to achieve the business objectives
Ability to provide both innovative and improvement solutions to current and anticipated business challenges
Expert knowledge of data warehouse architecture
Well versed with database administration tasks and working with DBAs to monitor and resolve ETL issues
Well versed with SQL and MDX concepts
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to interact positively with peer groups within IT and outside IT and management
Knowledge of Cognos, OBIEE, Oracle Discoverer reports, Oracle applications or similar ERP products and Big Data and related technologies

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree required; BS Information Systems major or minor preferred
Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in BI & ETL Systems
Advanced experience in dimensional modeling, star schema designs including best practices for use of indexes, partitioning, and data loading
Advanced experience in requirements gathering and preparing business requirements for BI and ETL applications
Advanced experience working with Informatica, PL/SQL, TOAD and tuning skills, Data Modeling, Oracle 10g or 11g,
Advanced experience developing software applications as part of a team, employing practical and effective software design concepts
Experience in trouble shooting data warehouse refresh issues and BI reports data validation with source systems
Equivalent combination of experience and/or education may be considered
