ProHire is currently seeking a Bakery Manager in the Portland Oregon Area (Candidates should live in Portland Oregon or Multnomah County and surrounding areas) This is an amazing opportunity with a leader in specialty restaurants industry located here in the northwest part of the United States. 
 
Responsibilities
 
The Bakery Manager is responsible for the creation and production of all baked goods as well as managing bakery inventory, in-stock position, pricing integrity, merchandising, labor, and other operational processes to company standards. They will contribute to the creation/implementation of Company sales and production planning standards and will ensure that the bakery achieves the standards of performance as outlined in the work plan. They will plan and order according to work plan and standards to maximize sales and gross profit. The Bakery Manager will ensure all associates receive proper training and supervision and will ensure correct administrative procedures, ordering, receiving, invoicing, unloading, storage, and rotation of merchandise.
 
The Bakery Manager must have experience developing recipes and preparing baked goods such as breads, pastries, cakes, and cookies; most notably sandwich breads such as ciabatta and sourdough. Furthermore, the Bakery Manager must have experience baking in large quantities.
 
Essential Functions:
 
• Manages inventory, pricing integrity, merchandising, labor, security, expense control and other operational processes to company standards
• Demonstrates advanced product knowledge and maintains awareness of new products/techniques
• Ensures the bakery is merchandised in accordance with the needs of the community; maintains shelf allocations to ensure the availability of products at all times
• Ensures the bakery is well maintained and meets or exceeds company standards for appearance and freshness
• Enforces loss controls and strives for minimum shrink
• Hires, supervises, trains, and develops team members in accordance with policies and procedures; administers performance reviews and corrective actions
• Evaluates bakery conditions, operations, and determine strengths of areas for improvement; reinforces strengths while developing and implementing improved procedures
• Ensures company standards for safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation and productivity are maintained
• Ensure cleans walls, fans and drains in bakery coolers, display cases and work area
• Schedules bakery employees
• Role models excellent customer service for the bakery team
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
 
• Formal culinary training strongly encouraged
• High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years' bakery management experience or an acceptable combination of education and experience
• Strong passion and motivation to create great food
• General culinary knowledge of basic kitchen equipment, practices, protocols and procedures
• 2 years of equivalent experience working in a high volume kitchen
• Understanding of typical culinary units of measure
• Demonstrated decision-making ability and leadership skills
• Analytical ability and proficiency in math sufficient to calculate margins, monitor profitability and manage inventory
• Comprehensive bakery product knowledge
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to train and mentor bakery team members
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Solid problem solving skills and decisiveness
• Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates
• Appropriate Food Safety/Handlers certification/card
• Ability to handle stressful situations
• Organization and planning skills
• Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
• Ability to delegate effectively
• Computer skills: Microsoft Office Software including Word and Excel
