Long standing 40+ year old nonprofit Conservancy group is seeking a Development Director. This is a full-time permanent position with benefits in a drug-free, smoke-free workplace. The Development Director furthers the mission of the group by spearheading development efforts as the organization continues to grow. Develop, implement, and manage a strategic plan for fundraising activities including individual giving, workplace giving campaigns, grant applications, as well as special events and communications that build relationships with a growing constituency base.
Responsibilities for Development Director
This individual is primarily responsible for fundraising for the organizations and agency projects, stewarding relations with dedicated donors and members, and leading communications and outreach efforts to raise public awareness of the role it plays in supporting our public lands. The position will be located in Crescent City, with frequent travel within Humboldt and Del Norte counties. Some remote work may be considered. Incumbent must pass a background investigation.
Qualifications/Skills
• Demonstrated experience in organizational development and fundraising
• Ability to talk candidly and tactfully with donors regarding funding needs
• Ability and willingness to promote organization’s mission through media and outreach efforts
• Ability to manage a database of members and donors
• Alignment with organization’s mission and a passion for public lands
• Knowledge and respect of the missions of our partners, the National Park Service, California and State Parks
• Bachelor’s Degree desired
• Familiarity Amplifund grant management software is a plus
• Strong organizational and planning skills
• Strong computer and administrative skills
• Ability to work independently
• Excellent writing, speaking, and telephone skills
• Ability to get along well with others and to work as part of a team
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
• California driver’s license and personal auto insurance
• Willingness to commute between multiple work sites when needed
• Ability to stand on feet up to eight hours per day
• Ability to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 40 pounds
