Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Long standing Orange County and profitable (MEP) Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, engineering firm is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Candidates should live in Orange County CA Area or surrounding communities). In this role we are currently seeking the right candidate that has experience in designing effective mechanical designs for commercial building concentrating on HVAC & Plumbing layouts using AutoCAD software. The ideal candidate must be self-motivated, eager, and able to work on a variety of fast paced projects.

Responsibilities for Mechanical Design Engineer

•  Ability to perform work requiring independent judgment
•  Knowledge of mechanical engineering principals, procedures, and code requirements
•  Ability to self-perform all mechanical engineering tasks associated with the project from field survey to design 
•  Ability to perform Drafting and engineering calculations, to coordinating with clients and other departments
•  Ability to design air conditioning systems, air distribution layouts, piping systems and equipment selections.
•  Ability to perform engineering load calculations and Title 24 energy compliance calculations
•  Ability to work with and be supported by other senior engineers for guidance and act as a engineer lead or project lead
•  Ability to work with external team members including architects, outside consultants, code officials, and contractors
•  Must be adaptable self-starter, able to problem solve, learn and apply new technologies with minimal support

Qualifications/Skills

•  Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (PE Professional Engineering License Preferred)
•  8+ years of experience with technical lead and design experience 
•  (Especially in tenant improvement projects for office buildings)
•  Strong focus on HVAC design
•  Solid foundation of design and drafting utilizing AutoCAD software
•  Excellent oral and written communication skills with cross disciplinary team members and clients
•  Effective in prioritizing and setting deadlines, while also adapting to change
•  Candidate should live in the Orange County Area
